Since November we’ve had four amazing camper groups serving in our community! Each group was so flexible and willing to serve wherever needed!
Encounter Campus Ministry
The week before Thanksgiving, we hosted an amazing group from Encounter Campus Ministry at Illinois State University! We had so much fun serving alongside this group, and they accomplished some incredible things! Encounter’s group did everything from cleaning out garden boxes, to partnering with Elli’s House on a Thanksgiving dinner for women in our community, to replacing an entire bathroom floor!
University of Florida – Medlife
Just before Christmas a group of six students braved the cold in Detroit and drove all the way from Florida to serve with us in Detroit! This group helped with the drywall in our dorms, served with the Luke Project 52 Clinic and MCREST, helped with our Christmas Craft event and Gifts for All God’s Children Christmas Party, and moved hundreds of donated trees to our campus and other community gardens (stay tuned for more on this!)!
Christ the King Lutheran Chapel
Ringing in the New Year in the best way possible, a group from Christ the King Lutheran Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, MI spent a couple days working with our community in Detroit! This group helped out at a community member’s house, some work in our dorms, and worked with the police to cover up gang graffiti in our community!
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church
Over MLK weekend this group from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, MI served with us! Despite a snow storm, the group patched a bathroom and bedroom ceiling with a community member and completed lots of projects on our campus! Half their group was unable to make the trip due to a snowstorm, but they all worked with enough enthusiasm to make up for the missing hands!
Thank you so much to all our campers who served with us over the last couple months! You were the hands and feet of God in our community and spread God’s love so clearly everywhere you served!
