The Spirit of Detroit Award

CRD is incredibly honored to receive the Spirit of Detroit Award this summer in recognition of our contribution to the G7 planning and community engagement team! We were even more honored to receive this award alongside amazing G7 community partners and organizations. This includes two organizations led by CRD board members- Denby Neighborhood Association, led by Ms. Sandra Turner-Handy, and Mohican-Regent Block Club led by Mr. George Preston. G7 is a city-led project to invest $5 million into the area around 7-mile and Gratiot. The team works with input and guidance from the community that lives here. Camp Restore Detroit worked as part of the team to help engage the community and take part in planning discussions.

City Council and the G7 planning team presented CRD with the award “in recognition of exceptional achievement, outstanding leadership, and dedication to improving the quality of life in Detroit.” Additionally, this award honors the hard work and dedication of our community leaders in the 9th precinct as we work together to accomplish our mission to restore Hope, home, and community. Thank you to our community leaders for their determination and efforts!
