Ways to Stay Involved During COVID-19

Blogs, News from Detroit, Press from Detroit, The Latest

Like the rest of the United States, Camp Restore Detroit has taken a step back from our normal operations, and we are now working on ways we can continue to support and partner with our community during COVID-19 restrictions. We are working with our community leaders to find more direct ways you can connect with and support our community from home! As soon as we have more information we will share it with you! For now, please see below for ways you can support not only our community in Detroit but also your own community.

Food Banks

Many food banks in Detroit and across the country are supplying food for their community, especially as families are losing their income. For a list of food banks in Detroit and ways you can support them, please click here. If you would like to donate your time, Gleaners Community Food Bank is looking for limited volunteers for their food distributions across Metro Detroit. Click here to see Gleaners’ volunteer options.

Hospitals

For a simple way to support medical staff and encourage patients click here to write an encouraging message for those at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit!

Other hospitals are requesting donations or homemade face masks. Please contact your local hospital for their specific needs. Many with sewing abilities are making masks for medical professionals, themselves, or others in their community. Click here for a Facebook group with more information about sewing masks. Click here for a set of directions created by Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Again, please check with your local hospital for their specific needs as each hospital is different.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

With just a quick google search, it is possible to find numerous agencies asking for donations or volunteers. For a list of miscellaneous volunteer opportunities in the Metro Detroit area, please click here! No matter where you are, we encourage you to find ways to support your community!

Donate

Like many other non-profits Camp Restore Detroit needs support. Even though operations are currently suspended (click here for more information, but we are hoping and praying to open for the summer!), we are still paying our staff and utilities. Please consider supporting our ministry with a financial gift during this time.

Prayer

Most importantly we ask for your continued prayers during this time. Cases of COVID-19 are rapidly increasing in Detroit. Please pray for:

  • the safety of our community
  • health and safety for our police officers and all emergency workers
  • Camp Restore Detroit staff as we find ways to support and partner with our community remotely

We will continue to update you with any new developments and as we find more ways to come alongside our community!
