Adopt-a-Friend Program

Blogs, News from Detroit, The Latest

Are you struggling with a lack of community and interaction during this time of social distancing? We are so excited to launch our new Adopt-a-Friend program! There are many seniors living alone in our community in Detroit. We know people across the United States are struggling with loneliness during this time, so we want to connect you with a senior in our community!

If you are interested in joining our Adopt-a-Friend program keep reading for more details!

  • Sign up to be paired with a senior in our community here!
  • We are collecting names and numbers of seniors from our community leaders in Detroit
  • As we receive names from our community leaders we will pair you together
  • Camp Restore Detroit will provide resources and conversation starters to help you get the relationship started!

On our website you will find a weekly check-in sheet. We ask volunteers to complete this after each conversation with their new friend! This way we can track any important information (for example: your new friend loves gardening and would like to help with our gardens on campus in the future).

Even though we cannot do much to control the way COVID-19 is impacting our community, we can provide small moments of hope and joy!
