One Thing Remains

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end;
They are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.”
Lamentations 3.22-24 (RSV)

As I intentionally read my Bible today, the book of Philippians, I am fondly reminded of Betty from Wisconsin. She came down a few weeks ago with her church to spend time serving at the St. Bernard Community Center and gutting a house in Braithwaite. My and Betty’s conversations, as we took the time to listen to each other, were filled with Acts 14:22. As Christians like Betty engage the world, “One Thing Remains”… check out the video below on YouTube by Jesus Culture:

Dear Betty,

I enjoyed so much spending time with you. Hearing about your service lifted up my soul! I’m always grateful to God my Father when I’m given such opportunity. Volunteers, such as yourself, listen, help, and share God’s love with the folks of New Orleans. In doing so, you share your blessings of liberty. Not only has your faith in Christ been nourished, but mine too. As you passed on the details of your experience serving others, in Jesus, and having discussed various trials and tribulations, I was reminded of the endurance God would grant me! We all need, God’s people that is, to share the Light of the World as we engage our neighbors in the world. May it be so, in Jesus Name!

Grace, mercy and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ the Father’s Son, in truth and love. 2 John 3 (RSV)
