Virtual CRD

One of our favorite parts about the summers here at Camp Restore Detroit is when amazing volunteers come and spend some time getting to know our community and working with our neighbors to clean up our city. When Covid-19 hit and we had to make the hard (but necessary) decision to suspend overnight camper groups, we wanted to find a way for our campers to still meet our neighbors, learn a bit about Detroit and Camp Restore, and have an opportunity to serve from home!

That is exactly what we did! Together with our community, we have created a 5 day virtual week of camp! Throughout the week, participants will learn about different aspects of Camp Restore, the lens we work through, the history of Detroit, and so much more. Each day participants will meet one of our incredible community members who will share a bit of their story! There is even  an opportunity to have staff and community members join participants (over zoom) 1-2 days to answer any questions they might have. 

This last week we had our first group use our program and they had a blast! They learned a lot and they loved getting to know our community and serve from home. One of their favorite parts was being able to meet so many of our awesome community members! Throughout the summer, we will be working to update these videos to keep information current and make sure they are done well. 

You may be wondering, “Who can participate in this experience??” The answer is anyone and everyone! We are working to make our materials available to not only those who were planning to serve with us this summer, but also past campers, families, individuals, churches near and far, Bible study groups, small groups, schools, colleges, and more.
