A Convention to Remember

Blogs, News from Detroit, The Latest

Last week, Pastor and Lori Carrier represented Camp Restore Detroit in Lexington, Kentucky, at the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Convention. The LWML supports missions and ministries in the United States and around the world through grants. The group’s biennial conventions celebrate grants previously granted and votes which ministries to support over the next two years. This year they voted to collect $2,150,000 to share!

Pastor Carrier, in one of the presentations, shared CRD’s mission and thanked the more than 3000 in-person participants and many on live-streaming for their grant CRD received at the last convention to renovate our youth and adult outreach centers. Pastor and Lori also shared more detailed information to over 80 people at a Special Interest Luncheon. Hundreds of people visited the CRD exhibit table to pick up pamphlets, play a game, or talk. The interest in serving at, learning more about, and donating to CRD was phenomenal! God’s hand was so evident during the entire convention!

We want to thank Mr. George Preston and Mrs. Sandra Handy-Turner for taking the time out of their already busy schedules to record video thanks to LWML. CRD also thanks Lori Carrier for putting together the five video presentations, and the Carriers for preparing everything needed for the convention. Most importantly, once again CRD wants to thank the LWML for supporting our mission to restore HOPE, home, and community in the 9th precinct of Detroit. GOD IS GOOD!
