Camp Restore is inviting short-term volunteer groups to join in the recovery effort following Hurricane Isaac. Volunteers of all ages high-school and up are requested, and specific skills are not required.


Cleaning Up After Hurricane Isaac

August 30, 2012- Hurricane Isaac has passed and New Orleans’ flood protection has performed to design. The majority of damage in the city is related to trees and power lines. Neighboring communities, however, such as Braithewaite, Slidell and LaPlace, have seen varying degrees of flooding, some of which is still playing out.

The Fire at Hubig’s Pies

Hubig’s was founded in 1922, survived the Great Depression and survived Katrina. One of the great shots early on was a group of nuns, the Sisters of the Holy Family, distributing Hubig’s Pies after the storm to people working on their homes and to volunteers who then were mucking out houses.
