Photos Around New Orleans After Isaac

Photo Galleries, The Latest

August 31, 2012-

As we continue evaluating the conditions post-storm and preparing for volunteer groups’ arrivals this weekend, we took some time Thursday to take some snapshots of the post-storm conditions across New Orleans, Chalmette, and out in Kenner (west side of NOLA metro).

Nearly all of the damage in the NOLA metro area proper was wind-related, with trees striking power lines and roofs damaged. The light flooding in the photos below was rainwater that collected alongside Paris Road on the way between New Orleans East and Chalmette, and was outside their respective interior levee systems. Also note the utility worker taking a nap: They’re working 16-hour shifts; 16 on, 8 off, until power is fully restored.

Stay tuned with us here as well as on Twitter and Facebook in the coming days.
