It’s amazing how fast two months can go by. I have had a great experience interning at Camp Restore this summer. I’ve done everything from painting, weeding, planting trees, scooping poop at a horse ranch, and playing with kids at a summer camp. I’ve done my fair share of cleaning, and I’ve gone to the grocery store what feels like one hundred times. With all that I’ve done, I’ve realized one thing: God’s work is never done.
It’s been seven years since Hurricane Katrina and there is still lots of work to be done in New Orleans. Camp Restore alone has a waiting list of three hundred houses, with more requests coming in every week!
With that being said, I would encourage you to consider making a trip down to New Orleans. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, and whatever talents you have, Camp Restore can put you to work. There are still plenty of houses to work on, weeds to pull and kids to play with.
Even though my work here is finished, God’s work here is not. He still needs willing hands and hearts to come and serve here in NOLA, because God’s work is never done.
Blessings,
Allison – Summer Intern
