blogging is still cool, right?

Blogs, The Latest

I met my life’s hero on January 27th, 2012 in a Rudy’s barbeque. It’s true. Michael Hyatt is a brilliant writer and thinker. I saw a tweet that he happened to be dining at a restaurant 15 minutes from my apartment. (Is that creepy?) So naturally, I changed into a cuter outfit and grabbed a friend to join me so I wouldn’t make a complete stalker/fool of myself.

When I was learning to read, I decided I wanted to be a writer. As I’ve aged, I’ve realized writing is a lot harder than reading. It requires hard work and thought and careful editing. As I spoke (whispered) confidently (intimidated) to Michael Hyatt, he gave me simple advice on how to become a writer: start blogging.

Ever since, I’ve tried to cultivate the discipline and practice of blog writing. Now, in that year and a half, I’ve only written 100 posts. That’s a little less than one per week. Not impressive. (Hyatt writes 3-5 weekly). Ryan on The Office declared blogs to be “so eight years ago,” but there are plenty of cool kids still writing. I certainly wish I wrote more.

With this in mind, Camp Restore now has a [email protected] email set up so you can guest blog on our website. You write the stories, we post them, and people from across the nation can read of how Christ moved you in the city of New Orleans. It’s pretty amazing when I think about it. If everyone who simply liked our Facebook page read this blog, I could have over 2,000 people reading my words!

If your God-given gift is writing, I would love to read your words. Whether you’re coming to Camp next week, or it’s been three years, your work is worth sharing.
